The starting product for all Turnboxes are traditional German gymnastics boxes (“Turnen” = “gymnastics”). These are cut open and a reinforced base is inserted. The boxes are the fitted with hinges and a gas strut allowing for gradual opening and closing. The final step is the “Braunschweiger Turngeräte” and “Benz Sportgeräte”. The boxes are sawn open in Jochen's workshop, fitted with hinges, new rubber feet, a gas spring and a reinforced base. The leather is cleaned and maintained. The interior components are lasered from high quality acrylic and can be adjusted to your liking
New Boxes
We purchase the new boxes from a well established German manufacturer. Apart from cleaning and the refurbishment-process, the boxes are converted in the same steps as the vintage boxes. The acrylic interior for the new boxes is available in a wide array of colors. The cowhide leather will darken over time and the boxes will eventually develop into a vintage pieces themselves.
